Every "beautiful" and well-packaged thing you see is a combination of other related things. There is a grave danger when we mix unrelated things (wrong mixture) out of a desperation for what we define as "success in life and ministry." It is so common today to find several emerging leaders unconsciously giving themselves to the above error. And, the consequence is what we see today everywhere, ministries and churches without any real identity and sense of direction.
To prepare a meal, you need to know the required spices; you can't just use whatever spice you lay hands on. Wisdom is profitable to direct! In my 32 years in the faith, I can tell you without mincing words, even before I stepped into my calling, I didn't allow just "anyone" passing by with a Bible and white collar to place his or her hands on my head. Did you get that! It has nothing to do with pride, but with understanding. What if I tell you that within these 32 years not more than four hands have been placed on my head. That may be why I still have my sense of reason with me. I haven't lost it to senseless, baseless and deluded religiosity.
Some of you reading me, it seems anyone who passes by you and manifests some supernatural acts is automatically a father to you even if you have no clue about his foundation, beliefs, and practices. I Dey Sorry-oooh! E pass me for laugh!
Hands have been laid on some of you, and you are closer to having a bald head, yet you are still seeking for more hands on your head. Anyone who comes to town and does something supernatural, you submit to the person, weeks after when another comes, you also submit. I call that "Confusion extravaganza!"
While writing this piece, my heart goes out to the several young preachers in Cameroon who don't know "left from right." I weep for them! I can't do much to help them now since some of their orientation about ministry is "crazy," but I'll not stop praying for them. What a waste of kingdom potential to have hundreds of young people in ministry who have little or no direction, wisdom, and understanding! Today they are prophets; tomorrow they are regional and area commanders. I wonder where they got that from! Whatever glitters, is taken for gold and before long that's what becomes their new direction.
You can't mix old wine with the new! The Lord is saying to some of you reading this; you need to know the right mixture for your life and ministry, be careful with the wrong combination. It may lead to death. Ponder! DrBenard Etta
