PSALM 81:13-16
"Oh that my people had hearkened unto me, and Israel had walked in my ways! I should soon have subdued their enemies and turned my hand against their adversaries. The haters of the LORD should have submitted themselves unto him: but their time should have endured forever. He should have fed them also with the finest of the wheat: and with honey out of the rock should I have satisfied thee."
As powerful as God is, yet there are things He won't do with us if we choose not to listen to Him. God has been speaking, and He is still speaking, but are we listening? Some people have chosen what to listen to, especially if it is what they want to hear.
2Timothy 4:3
For the time will come when men will not tolerate sound doctrine, but with itching ears, they will gather around themselves teachers to suit their own desires.
Remember King Ahab, he had 400 self-promoted Prophets telling him to go to war with the assurance of victory, but the only person he didn't want to listen to was the one with a message from heaven.
1Kings 22:5-7
But Jehoshaphat also said to the king of Israel, "Please inquire first for the word of the LORD." 6So the king of Israel assembled the prophets, about four hundred men, and asked them, "Should I go to war against Ramoth-gilead, or should I refrain?" "Go up," they replied, "and the Lord will deliver it into the hand of the king." But Jehoshaphat asked, "Is there not still a prophet of the LORD here of whom we can inquire?"
The days are evil; we can reduce the casualties if we choose to listen to the 'orders' heaven is issuing by the Spirit through God's messengers. Be weary of people who are always dishing out what you want to hear and not what God is saying.
What was Ahab's problem with Micaiah?
1Kings 22: 8
"There is yet one man, Micaiah the son of Imlah, by whom we may enquire of the LORD: but I hate him; for he doth not prophesy good concerning me, but evil."
When you meet a true messenger of God, you may tend to hate him because they will only tell you God's mind and not necessarily what you want to hear.
One of the distractions of the last days against believers is the 'flood of men and women who are professing mandates God hasn't given them, who claim to be speaking on God's behalf when they don't even know His order. The Pentecostal movement is in trouble, but God will see us through this season.
Read what Micaiah told King Ahab.
1Kings 22: 28
And Micaiah said, If thou return at all in peace, the LORD hath not spoken by me. And he said, Hearken, O people, every one of you.
Did King Ahab return in peace as the 400 self-styled prophets told him? The answer is NO! (VS 37) God has been speaking and is still speaking, are we listening?
Ponder!
