"In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth." Gen 1:1.
God Created!
If God's first act in the beginning was creation, why aren't we hearing about creativity, invention, innovation and discoveries within the church world? I can't really remember the last time I saw a Christian convention with "creativity" (Creation) as the theme. Is there a place for creation in the mission of the church on earth? Just thinking out loud!
What does it mean to create?
To create is to bring (something) into existence. God isn't synonymous to repetition and imitation. He is God of creation; he is able to make something out of nothing. As his children, he expects us to resemble him and to be creators in our own right. Creativity should be natural to God's people, but it seems, this important aspect of our god-likeness is not encouraged or given wings within many quarters of Christendom.
Imagine what would happen if the millions of people under our different churches become creative individuals, capable of bringing into existence things in diverse domains!
Imagine the inspiration and challenge we all would enjoy if we incorporate moments when individuals could showcase their creativity to God's glory in our church meetings.
God created in the beginning! It's high time we give creativity its rightful place in the church world. Watch out for more insight! DrBenard Etta
