QUESTION
Happy Sunday, Men and women of God.
Good morning to you, Dr Pastor.
Pastor, you made a statement last time concerning some misunderstanding going on actually within the body of Christ; based on the misinterpretation of the word, you said: --- most preachers are losing focus as they strive to please their fan base by being controversial.
I'm sure you are aware of what's going on actually within the body of Christ (especially in Nigeria) concerning TITHES.
👉🏽Pastor Creflo Dollar said all tapes & books he produced on TITHES Christian must gather and burn
👉🏽 Prophet Uebert Angel respond that he should refund back all the money 💰 he had collected since 😅
👉🏽 Benny Hinn said in the book of act Christian none of the Christian lack AFTER THEY GAVE
👉🏽 Dr Abel Damina responded and said: Christian was not lacking because what they will bring, they will share it among them such that none of them will lack.
He said: "Pastor Benny Hinn, you are lying" he even precise you are lying in public🤥.
WHAT'S GOING ON????
Please, Doctor, I beg you can you help us to address this super-mega controversial topic: TITHE.
What is the problem here?
I these are the elements I identified:
👉 TITHE is an old testament principle ==> should be abolished.
👉🏽 TITHE should be given by a Christian because HE IS ALREADY BLESS, not TO BE BLESS.
👉🏽 We are not PAYING TITHE; we GIVE TITHE
😅 please, Doctor, Help us understand this thin ooohh
Precision: when I said the elements I identified, I mean the several interpretations I noticed
MY RESPONSE!
I didn't want to say anything on this subject because I have addressed it in my previous write-ups, but I'll say a few things because of your insistence. Let me begin by saying that I don't have anyone paying their tithes to me. So, what I have to say is purely out of love for my father's house.
First, let's put aside the name "TITHES, "which may be the problem some people are having. Let's focus on the purpose, as mentioned in Malachi 3:10. "Bring ye all the tithes into the storehouse, that there may be meat in mine house."
"That there may be meat (Provision) in mine house."
1 Peter 2:5 says:
Ye also, as lively stones, are built up a spiritual house, a holy priesthood, to offer up spiritual sacrifices, acceptable to God by Jesus Christ.
So, the concept of the house of God has not changed; in the past, it referred to physical buildings, but today, we are collectively the house of God.
Just as in our homes, things can't run effectively without provision; it is the same with the house of God (Community of the saints).
The "house of God" needs meat (Provision), and it will not come from angels but within the community of the saints. Whether you call it tithes or offerings, the bottom line is "the house of God needs provision.
Have charlatans exploited it to their advantage? A big yes, but condemning it sends the wrong message.
First, it gives Christians whose God is their belly( who worship themselves) reasons to be more greedy. In fact, they are the most excited about this debate. I am talking about Christians whose countenance changes whenever they hear the words, "Offering time."
Second, it doesn't hinder the charlatans who are the reason for this debate from making money. The reason is that they have their "blood of Jesus," Lion of Judah, Holy Water, soap, salt water, Faith Bracelet and others to sell. They sell prayers and altar calls to meet them on the pulpit or privately in their hotels.
But genuine kingdom assignments may suffer because of this witch-hunt against giving.
Creflo Dollar built his church empire on tithes. He is coming out to say what he said, knowing fully well that the offerings from his congregation and others can still carry him for many years. However, his outing will make things hard for the young ones in the ministry.
The gospel is free, but it costs to take it to the world. It also costs so much to take care of the people of God. I'm talking out of experience. When people come to the Lord and leave their illegal businesses and relationships, the church needs to sustain them until they get something. If you aren't close to the inner circle of a genuine ministry, you will not know.
The early church didn't teach tithes because it was a revival movement where people were willing to give everything, but I am sure, when things became institutionalised, they had ways to raise funds in their local congregations to fund the house of God.
There are always consequences when we focus on our homes and forget the house of God. Please read Haggai 1: 3-11. If people are discouraged from giving, the only people who will have resources are the charlatans; imagine what they will do.
Let's consider our ways!
