I've just been pondering why very few people in our church circles love depths (Desire to go deeper in the knowledge, wisdom, and understanding of divine truth). Why are most people satisfied dwelling on the surface of the word when there are depths to explore? The more one is passionate to explore the depths of divine matter; the more frustrated one becomes with our modern day Pentecostalism. I value and celebrate my Pentecostal and charismatic heritage, but every day as I strive to lay hold of the treasures of God's grace and wisdom available for this generation, the more I realize that God has gone beyond our present-day Pentecostal and charismatic movements. We have become a mere reflection of the past moves of God and not a symbol of where God is and where he is going. What a painful and sad reality, but how many people are aware of this sad reality? We have become like Ephraim.
Ephraim, he hath mixed himself among the people; Ephraim is a cake not turned. Strangers have devoured his strength, and he knoweth it not: yea, gray hairs are here and there upon him, yet he knoweth not.,Hosea 7:8-9
Ephriam mixed himself among the people and lost his identity, he became halfbaked, he lost his strength to strangers, and he became outdated, but as the scripture says "yet he knoweth not." Ephriam wasn't conscious of his true spiritual state; he was still busy with church activities and ministerial engagements. Sad!
That's the current state of our present-day Pentecostal and charismatic movements. Despite our fall, we still walk around with a sense of pride thinking we are still at the cutting edge of the move of God when actually we are more than 30 years behind. Oh God, save us! We need to call for solemn assemblies! "The glory has departed from Israel!" God has gone past where we are camping. We need an urgent catch-up, but how can this be possible without direction? How can we have direction when we are not listening to God and his messengers? God save us!
IT IS TIME TO CALL FOR SOLEMN ASSEMBLIES!
Who knoweth if he will return and repent, and leave a blessing behind him; even a meat offering and a drink offering unto the Lord your God?
Blow the trumpet in Zion, sanctify a fast, call a solemn assembly:Gather the people, sanctify the congregation, assemble the elders, gather the children, and those that suck the breasts: let the bridegroom go forth of his chamber, and the bride out of her closet. Let the priests, the ministers of the Lord, weep between the porch and the altar, and let them say, Spare thy people, O Lord, and give not thine heritage to reproach, that the heathen should rule over them: wherefore should they say among the people, Where is their God?
