Who are eagles?
Eagles are those individuals who have stepped higher than others in perspective, character, vision and purpose. They are a rare breed of individuals you can ever meet. Many people admire them for who they are, but few can comprehend the challenges and demands on their path, which gives them the character they see.
It is not easy to be named among the eagles in any field of strategic importance. The reason is that the path of eagles naturally selects its own. Those who venture on it out of zeal and mere excitement, end up dismissing themselves from it. It is a path for individuals who have sunk their boats of indifference, passivity and complacency, and are ready to dare and take risks for the sake of their purpose and mission for humanity.
Think about the price these men and women have paid throughout history to bring us to where we are today. Christ is my inspiration! I also applaud men and women of distinct character, who paid the ultimate price to step higher than others in perspective, character, vision and purpose, to bring us to where we are today in diverse areas of strategic importance. Their names and contributions are written in our hearts and on the sand of time.
WHAT MAKES THE PATH OF EAGLES?
There are many intricacies of this path, but I will zero down on a few:
1) It is a lone path.
Even though surrounded by many admirers, friends, family members, and collaborators, you will be alone on it. Those who surround men and women of this calibre may hardly comprehend the challenges, perplexities and pressures they confront daily, as they strive beyond the boundaries of survival mentality, to impact the world. Thus, eagles draw strength from within and not from without.
2) It is a controversial path:
It does not attract popular support initially, but criticism, miss-understanding from different quarters, separation at times from family and peers, sabotage, plots, but the end leads to considerable changes in the world.
3) It is a path of extreme sacrifice:
On it, you don't have to love your life, even to the point of death. That is why; very few people choose the path. Who among the brilliant lawyers today could have accepted 27 years in prison as Nelson Mandela for a cause he believes in? How many people can today lay down their PhD, for missions to Africa as David Livingston did? To eagles, life is lived each day as a sacrifice of self for others.
4) It is a path of legacy:
Few eagles got what they deserve in their lifetime. History celebrates them, while men and women of their generation scorn at them, only in few occasions have they been celebrated in their lifetime.
5) It is a path of great character:
Character is the strength of eagles. One's character is tested on the path of eagles daily. Those with porous and weak character fall off the cliff. Character deals with all essential virtues, and values needed to sustain an individual on a path of discipline and much resistance.
6) It is a path of faith:
Faith in God, Faith in one's inward abilities, Faith in one's mission and faith for a better future through one's contribution.
May the Lord make you an eagle for his kingdom.
