Romans 12, verse 1.
"I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service."
The most remarkable breakthrough we can ever have in our walk with God is the privilege of knowing his heart. It is also very crucial in every relationship that we strive to know the heart of our partners. It is not easy to make sense of someone's words and actions without knowing their hearts. Only the heart of an individual can tell the truth about their words and actions. In this season, it is crucial for us as God's people to desire to know God's heart towards us.
One of the misconceptions about God is that his ways don't make sense, and we are supposed to follow his leading blindly and without questioning. In some sense, God's ways don't make sense to un-renew minds, but to say that God's ways don't make sense can encourage stupidity.
In our foundation text, we are admonished to present our bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to God, not as a religious service, but as a reasonable season. Meaning, it is something, which makes sense to the sensible. God is not interested in ruling over us, but to share his glory with us. Thus, whatever He tells us to do is for our best interest, and his idea is for us to see the wisdom in why we should do what He is asking us to do.
Religion preaches the opposite! If you ask most people why they are serving God, you would hear several religious notions that present God as a religion void of reason.
I have been a student of God for more than three decades, and I can tell you, God is light, and in Him, there is no darkness at all.
God wants you to know why and see the value and the wisdom of doing whatever He wants you to do. There is a difference between religious service and reasonable service. Religious service is what most organised religions propagate to their advantage since it leaves people with no freedom to question or ask for clarifications.
Reasonable service is kingdom service done with a clarity of purpose of the value and wisdom of doing whatsoever one does.
Religion brainwashes, but God enlightens. You would have to choose between God as a religious service or reasonable service. The former is burdensome, but the latter is refreshing. All it takes is the renewing of our minds by the truth of God's word. Ponder!
