The proof of our belief in the second coming of the Lord is not our preaching about his coming, but how it impacts the way we think, live and do things. When you finally accept the truism of the return of the Lord, the following signs will be visible in your life
1) You will set your mind on things above. Colossians 3: 2
Competing for the things of this life will no longer be a part of your lifestyle. That does not mean you will no longer go to school, work or create wealth, etc., but God's kingdom will be the heart and soul of everything you do and possess.
2) You will live a moderate life (saving extra cash) in favour of aggressive soul-winning and perfecting the Saints kingdom projects.
Christ told the rich guy in the Bible to sell everything he had and to give the money to the poor. Luke 18:22, Matthew 19:21-22
What best gift can someone give the poor? Christ said He came to preach to the poor. Who were those Christ referred to as the poor? Luke 4:18
I believe he was referring to the entire human population that is not in a relationship and right standing with God. Any human being, whether wealthy or financially weak who is not in a relationship and right 'standing' with the creator of the heavens and earth, is spiritually poor.
Secondly, any 'church' that considers herself powerful because of their material and financial strength and not their spiritual alignment with God's will and kingdom agenda is wretched, miserable, poor, blind, and naked. Revelation 3: 14-18
So, when you say you believe in the coming of the Lord, the proof isn't your post on social Media or preaching about his return, but the extent you are willing to go in denying yourself certain things, to make provision for the gospel both to the poor in the world and church.
I sometimes wonder how a believer or minister who invests several thousands of dollars on highly expensive clothing, wrists watches, pieces of jewellery, holidays, cars and others can claim to believe in the return of the Lord. I know this right here is like setting the idols of some individuals on fire. Why? They have accepted a lie that acquiring those things is a sign of God's goodness. Who bewitched us?
The reason we weren't supposed to live like the people who don't know the Lord is that we have a mission, and time isn't in our favour. Secondly, we also understand that this world is passing away as the scripture says.
2Peter 3:10-12
Let's ask ourselves, if COVID-19, which has shut down several nations was the actual coming of the Lord, what would have become of all the things we have amassed? I'm talking about our millions in the bank, private Jet planes in airport hangers, the several expensive fleets of cars, our multi-million dollar 'church' auditoriums and others we use for showing off? Ponder!
You can't believe in the coming of Christ and live for the things of this world. Claiming to believe in the return of the Lord while competing for the things of the world is hypocritical. Sadly, it seems that is where we are now!
We preach about His coming; we post it on Facebook, but our hearts aren't after what He is after. We bother less about the millions of souls perishing, and millions of believers in need of the word. Making the sacrifice toward project soul winning and perfecting the saints seems to be very unpopular these days, especially before COVID-19.
"Woe to those preachers and believers who live like 'earthly kings' while millions of people are dying in the valley of decision and several millions of believers without the word."
Meditate On the text below!
2 Peter 3:10-12
But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night; in the which the heavens shall pass away with a great noise, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat, the earth also and the works that are therein shall be burned up. Seeing then that all these things shall be dissolved, what manner of persons ought ye to be in all holy conversation and godliness, Looking for and hasting unto the coming of the day of God, wherein the heavens being on fire shall be dissolved, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat?
It is time to stop the hypocrisy! If we believe in the return of the Lord, we won't live for the things of this world anymore. We'll live wholly for the Lord and his kingdom. Whatever we do or acquire will have the kingdom of God at the centre and the reason for everything.
Oh, Lord, have mercy! Ponder And Stay Blessed
